Sector: Hospitality
Qualifications: No MEP connections were included; however, interior drywall was installed.
Total Square Feet: 328
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Phase: Built
Codes: Constructed to international building code standards and codes for high-rise hospitality projects.
Goal: Change joist direction to accommodate flexible architectural hotel designs while making a lighter weight structure.
Process & Lessons Learned: The change in joist direction accommodated architectural variety in linear walls and provided cost savings. We were able to build a lighter weight module while maintaining structural integrity for high-rise projects. This design also allowed CFS framing to hang outside the structural box, providing for notched hotel corridors.
